Roles
Learners see the dashboard, learning paths and courses. Instructors and course authors additionally see course management, the AI generator, the knowledge base and learning path management. Administrators additionally see the AI settings.
1. Course builder v2¶
The new authoring tool. A course consists of sections (chapters) and lessons. A lesson is a sequence of blocks: text, heading, image, video, file, quiz, fill-in-the-blank, matching, ordering, flashcards, timeline, hotspot and more.
How to
- Administration → Course management → create a course and choose the format Blocks (v2), or open an existing v2 course.
- On the left under Course structure add a chapter with + Section and a lesson inside it with + Lesson.
- Click into the lesson on the right and start typing. The text is saved automatically; the header shows "Saved hh:mm".
- / opens the block menu. Keep typing after the slash, for example
/imageor/quiz, and confirm with Enter. - The image block takes a picture from the media library or uploads a file directly.
- Blocks at the top right opens the library of all block types. Preview shows the lesson as learners see it.
- Completion rule per lesson: viewing is enough, scroll to the end, complete all interactions, or quiz passed.
Checkpoints
- [ ] Create a section and a lesson, type text, reload the page: everything is still there.
- [ ] Type with spaces in text, headings and in the fields of a quiz block: no block duplicates, no letters go missing.
- [ ] Insert and upload an image: "Saved" appears, the image is there after a reload.
- [ ] Quiz block with question and answers, completion rule "quiz passed": complete it as a learner.
- [ ] Drag a lesson into another section.
- [ ] Restore an earlier state of the lesson via Versions.
2. AI generator¶
Generates lesson building blocks (lesson draft, summary, key points, flashcards, multiple choice, true/false, open questions) or a complete course draft from your material. Jobs run in the background; you review the results before taking them over.
New in this round
- Large documents are split automatically. The message "material is too large" should no longer appear.
- Knowledge base as source: with "Use knowledge base" the material field is optional. Empty means: the selected sources in full. A short topic means: the AI looks for the matching passages.
How to
- Menu AI generator, tab Building blocks.
- Paste material as text, load a web page or upload a file (PDF, DOCX, PPTX, up to 15 MB).
- Optionally tick Use knowledge base and pick sources.
- Choose content types, language and difficulty, then Generate building blocks.
- Follow the progress on the right under Jobs. Open finished jobs, check each result in the Preview, then take it over (choose target course and section) or discard it.
- Tab Whole course: enter topic, goal, audience and optionally material. The result is an inactive course draft in the builder.
Checkpoints
- [ ] Upload a long document (more than 20 pages) and generate questions: the job finishes, the questions match the content.
- [ ] Knowledge base only, material field empty: the job runs through.
- [ ] Knowledge base plus a short topic: the results relate to the topic.
- [ ] Take over a result: the lesson appears in the target course at the right place.
- [ ] Whole course: the draft is inactive, tagged "AI-generated", editable in the builder.
- [ ] On errors: the message is understandable, job number noted.
3. Knowledge base¶
A place for regulations, operating instructions, curricula and accompanying material. The AI cites from it in the generator, the tutor and the quality check. Company sources are visible only to your own company; platform sources are provided by the operator.
How to
- Menu Knowledge base → Add source: file, web page or text, plus title, publisher and licence.
- After the upload the source is processed. Status "Ready" means it can be used.
- In the AI generator or in the builder (dialog Sources) see which passages were cited.
Checkpoints
- [ ] Create a PDF source, status becomes "Ready".
- [ ] Generator with this source: the generated content names its sources.
- [ ] Delete the source: it disappears from the selection.
4. AI quality check¶
Rates a course in seven dimensions (structure, content depth, engagement, accessibility, assessment, mandatory contents for safety instructions, readability) with strengths and concrete improvement suggestions.
New in this round
- The report is always in German, even for English content or programming topics.
- Learner data: from five enrollments on, completion rate, results and a per-lesson funnel feed in. Lessons with many drop-outs or poor results are marked, and the AI makes suggestions about them. Below that threshold a note says there is not enough data yet.
How to
- In the builder, top right AI quality, or the light-bulb icon in course management.
- Start analysis; the report appears after about a minute.
- Read: overall score, radar chart, strengths, suggestions, mandatory contents, readability, learner data.
Checkpoints
- [ ] The report is in German throughout, even for a course with English material.
- [ ] Course with at least five enrollments: section "Learner data" with figures and marked lessons.
- [ ] The suggestions refer to real lessons of the course.
- [ ] Run the check again: the old report stays in the history.
5. Converting courses to the new format¶
Classic courses (lesson types such as info text, video, multiple choice) are created as a copy in the block format. The original stays unchanged; the copy is inactive and tagged "converted".
How to
- Course management → open the classic course (lesson overview).
- Click Create v2 copy. The report shows per lesson Converted, Partial (with a note) or Manual (the original data is kept as a note in the block).
- Create copy creates the course and opens it in the builder.
- Review the marked lessons, then activate the course.
Not converted automatically: free-text tasks with AI grading (they become reflection questions without grading), xAPI lessons, and hotspots change from circles to rectangles.
Checkpoints
- [ ] Report before creating: the figures match the lesson list.
- [ ] After creating: the copy has all lessons in the right order; quiz lessons have the completion rule "quiz passed".
- [ ] The original is unchanged and still active.
- [ ] Complete the copy as a learner: the quiz questions work.
6. AI learning paths¶
Learners compose their own learning path with the AI. Topic, goal and level are enough; the AI picks suitable courses from the catalogue, orders them and explains each step. Personal learning paths are visible only to the person who created them.
How to (learners)
- Menu Learning paths → Create a learning path with AI.
- Enter topic, optionally a goal, and level → Create draft.
- Change the title, remove courses with the bin icon → Create learning path.
- The path opens and you are enrolled. Each course shows why it is in the path. You find it again under My learning paths.
- Own paths can also be composed by hand and deleted again.
How to (course authors)
- Manage learning paths → New → AI draft at the top right.
- The dialog additionally offers Create as company path (inactive, for review) and One certificate for the whole path.
- In the form, the Certificate selection: per course (default) or one path certificate after completing all courses. With a path certificate the courses in it issue none of their own.
Checkpoints
- [ ] The draft contains only courses you may enrol in; the reasons are in German and match the topic.
- [ ] Remove a course, create: the path has exactly the remaining courses.
- [ ] With a second account: the personal path is not visible.
- [ ] Company path with path certificate: complete all courses, there is one certificate with the path title and none per course.
- [ ] Topic without matching courses: an understandable message instead of an error.
7. AI recommendations¶
On the dashboard under "Recommended for you" the AI picks the best-fitting courses from the rule-based suggestions and explains each in one sentence. First the previous list appears, after a few seconds the AI selection with the badge AI. The selection is recalculated at most every ten minutes.
Checkpoints
- [ ] The reasons match your completed courses and are written informally.
- [ ] After completing a course the recommendations change on the next visit.
- [ ] Enrolling from a recommendation works.
8. AI tutor, help bot and variants¶
AI tutor: bottom right in the course player. Answers questions about the course content and cites the knowledge base. It deliberately does not answer quiz questions.
Help bot: bottom right on every page. Explains how to use the platform, matching your role.
Variants (course authors): in the builder via Variants, generate translations or easy-to-read language for v2 courses.
Checkpoints
- [ ] Tutor: the answer streams in and relates to the lesson.
- [ ] The tutor declines to answer a quiz question.
- [ ] Help bot: "How do I create a learning path?" is answered correctly.
- [ ] Variant in another language: inactive course, texts translated, quiz questions kept.
- [ ] Easy-to-read language: short sentences, technical terms explained.
9. AI settings (admins)¶
Menu AI settings: switches for AI generator, quality check, knowledge base, help bot, AI recommendations, AI learning paths and the approval requirement for AI-generated courses. Daily limits are visible; only the operator can change them.
Checkpoints
- [ ] AI learning paths off: the button "Create a learning path with AI" disappears for learners.
- [ ] AI recommendations off: the dashboard shows only the previous list again.
Reporting problems¶
- Which function, which course or learning path (name or number)
- What was done, what was expected, what happened
- Time and screenshot
- For AI jobs the job number from the list
Test environment
The test environment is reset with updates; your own test data may disappear. The demo course "Demo: Neue Funktionen (Testleitfaden)" from the video may be modified.
