Marketplace: buy courses and manage licenses

In the marketplace you obtain courses from other companies or from your own company group. This page shows how to find offers, complete a purchase and keep track of licenses, orders and invoices afterwards. The company admin can buy; a content manager sees the offers and prices but cannot buy.

You find the marketplace on the learning platform under Sales & licenses → Marketplace. Three tabs sit at the top: Offers, My licenses and Orders and invoices. You can offer your own courses in the seller dashboard (button at the top right).

Two areas: public and company group

Under Offers there are two separate areas. They deliberately look different so you never confuse who an offer comes from and how it is paid.

Public marketplace Offers from my company group
Marking on each card grey outline badge with a storefront icon, text Public filled blue badge with a group icon, text Company group
Who offers it other online:academy customers companies in your own company group (for example the parent company or sister companies)
Payment through PayPal no PayPal payment: free or with an internal transfer price

You only see the second area if your company belongs to a company group. Without a group there is just the list of public offers, without tabs. Every offer appears in exactly one of the two areas. The search field above the list filters within the selected area by title, description and tags.

Publicly offered courses from a group company

If a company in your group offers a course publicly, you find it in the company group area because the group price applies to you. Outside companies see the same course in the public marketplace at the list price.

Reading prices

All prices are net; statutory VAT is added for paid offers. If your group price differs from the list price, the list price is struck through in front, followed by your price and the note Group price: free or Group price: internal.

Viewing the offer

Details opens the detail page of an offer. It shows the description, highlights, the lessons of the course, a preview video (if available) and, on the right, the prices per license type: reference, copy and seat license. You also start the purchase there with License.

Buying

License opens the purchase dialog. At the top you see the origin badge and a sentence on how the purchase is handled. Then you choose:

  • the license type (the first one the offer allows is preselected),
  • for the seat license, the number of seats,
  • for copy and seat license, the target catalog the copy is placed in.

The price box shows how the price is made up and whether a payment follows. There are three ways:

Way When What happens
Payment through PayPal price above 0 €, public offer (or group price equal to the list price on a public offer) button Continue to payment
Free price 0 € button Get for free: the license is active immediately, there is no payment and no invoice
Internal transfer price offer from your company group with an internal price button Get at group price: the license is active immediately, your company receives a debit notice, no PayPal payment

Paying with PayPal

  1. Click Continue to payment. The order is created and you see the order number and the total including VAT.
  2. Pay with the PayPal buttons in the dialog. You pay the offering company directly; the platform receives its share automatically.
  3. After payment the license is active. To my licenses takes you to the overview; you find the invoice under Orders and invoices.

If you cancel the payment you can try again in the dialog; nothing is charged. An unpaid order expires by itself after 24 hours. If the offering company has not connected PayPal yet, the dialog says so and the purchase is not possible yet.

My licenses

The My licenses tab shows every license as a card with origin badge, license type, status and purchase date:

  • Seat bar: for seat licenses you see how many of the purchased seats are in use. When the bar is full, the license accepts no further participants.
  • Media status for copies: videos, interactive content and files are copied into your company in the background. The course is usable right away while the media catch up. If it says Media copy failed, restart it with Retry; media that were already copied are kept.

You manage enrollments and settings per course under Licensed courses; the button at the top right leads there.

Orders and invoices

This tab lists all marketplace orders of your company with date, order number, course and license type, amount, settlement (PayPal, Free or Debit notice) and status. Below are the documents with PDF download:

  • Invoice from the offering company for paid purchases. The seller issues it in its own name and letterhead.
  • Cancellation invoice or credit note if a purchase was refunded.
  • Debit notice for an internal transfer price. It is an internal document and not a tax document.

Free licenses do not create a document.

Rating licensed courses

Once you have licensed a course you can review it. How is described under Marketplace: rate courses.
